Is the iPad a game-changer for libraries?

The Radical Patron   thinks so, and makes a compelling case. She urges us to "Check out the video below from Sports Illustrated to get a glimpse of what's to come in the next few years. Then, think about tablet devices in a few years when competitors have entered the market, features have been added, publishers have created richer content and prices have dropped." Gosh, it's pretty amazing stuff.

  1. My initial reaction when I saw the Apple iPad was confusion. What functionality does this device offer over and above the Apple iPhone? And what market is Apple aiming this device at?

  2. I'm biased as an Apple fanatic, but I think the iPad offers some really amazing opportunities for magazine and newspaper publishing. I also think it will change the whole netbook market. For young people getting their first computer and for older people who really want just a device for e-mail internet and photos, the iPad will suit them very well. The always brilliant Stephen Fry has a very good blessay on the iPad: http://www.stephenfry.com/2010/01/28/ipad-about/
